- Description : English lyrics translated from Kore...(more)an:
Here fly the birds.
Hundreds of them sing like ringing.
Here comes a phoenix, the king of birds.
And a harvest bird before the Gate of Eternal Life.
Flying birds are so high in forest,
where moutain stands high, valley is deep and nobody lives there.
Singing antiphonal songs and enjoying the spring time, birds come and go in couples.
Here flies an expert singer: cuckoo.
When I go to this mountain, I hear "Sege Sege"
When I go to that mountain, I hear "Sege Sesegesege"
Ah~~
They hover while they sing.
A cheerful bird sings.
A yellowbird sings in happiness.
How beautiful this mountain and that mountain are.
How cute these birds in mountains are.
All birds sing together in happiness.
In high voices, in this mountain and that mountain.
Hovering around they keep singing.

About this song:
In ancient Korea, a peddler rang a bell to let villagers know that he was coming. The title "Birds Ring" means that the singing of birds is just like ringing a bell. "Birds Ring" is a very famous traditional Korean folk song. One may notice that it is extremely difficult to sing this song well because the singer is required to use several different singing techniques to sing it. That is, the singer must master several different singing techniques.
Another interesting issue is the difference between Koreans and Japanese. Japanese folk songs are often very simple and sometimes boring to some people. This is because the Japanese love to appreciate the beauty from simpleness. On contrary, Korean folk songs generally have a lot of ornamental voices, making it very hard to perform them. I think that Byeon, Yeonghwa's performance was fabulous. Maybe she wanted to use this song to show how talented she is.

Ethnic Korean's Emblem:
http://www.worldartmuseum.cn/content/413/811_1.shtml
This emblem was designed by an ethnic Korean Chinese designer. It shows a Janggu(a hourglass drum, Chinese:长鼓, Korean:장고) and a Sangmo (a helmetlike hat with a long ribbon). They are two typical instruments used in traditional Korean folk dance called Nongak (literally farmers' dance, Chinese:农乐舞, Korean: 농악). Korean farmers often perform this kind of dance after the harvest. In the performance, a group of men wear Sangmo, which can have a very long ribbon. At a certain point in the dance, the dancers vigorously rotate their heads so the ribbons fly out like whirligigs. Janggu (a hourglass drum) is used to accompany dancers. In this emblem, two instruments together form the shape of ethnic Korean Chinese's sacred mountain: Changbai Shan (literally Everlasting White Mountain). This emblem illustrates happy atmosphere of festival and unique features of ethnic Korean Chinese.
