• Description : On the instructions of Air Chief Ma...(more)rshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force launched relief campaign for the IDPs of Swat, Buner and Dir. Relief Cells were established on all PAF bases for the collection of relief goods from the personnel of PAF and civilians living near the bases. The relief goods were transported to Peshawar on 17 trucks to hand them over to the NWFP government. Relief goods contained tents, fans, water coolers, bedding, medicines and miscellaneous food items in shape of a complete package for every IDP family. Pakistan Air Force Women Association (PAFWA) also participated actively in the relief campaign and made material/financial contribution for the IDPs. It is to mention that the PAF personnel in the shortest possible time have contributed more than Rs 10 million for the relief of IDPs. Efforts made by the PAF personnel are besides decision of the government for deduction of the one-day salary from all government servants including the armed forces. The relief goods were handed over to the NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti by Air Vice Marshal Waseem Ud Din, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Administration) in a simple but impressive ceremony at PAF Base Peshawar. It is also mentioned that PAF C-130 Aircraft are also carrying out extensive operations all over the country to swiftly transport the relief goods donated by all Pakistani citizens, organizations, NGOs and other armed services to Risalpur for ownward delivery to the afectees camp.
