DENVER - Frontier Airlines on Friday said it will start charging travelers to switch flights on the day of their travel, and will charge $150 to make changes on days prior to the flight. The Denver-based airline, which is reorganizing under bankruptcy protection, will eliminate its current standby policy and will instead charge same-day flight-switching travelers the difference between their original ticket and the new ticket at its price that day.
The airline said the change means that travelers can now get a confirmed seat instead of having to wait on standby. Frontier also said the change will eliminate the delays of boarding standby passengers.
Frontier said frequent fliers at the "Summit" level can make same-day changes for free.
The changes begin on tickets bought as of Friday, for travel beginning Aug. 15.
