• Speidi Dishes On HIMYM and Fake Hills Firing

  Los Angeles (E! Online) – Spencer Pratt is talking about having babies. This can't be good for the gene pool.

  RIght now, Spencer and the love of his totally authentic life, Heidi Montag, are filming scenes for CBS' How I Met Your Mother. I'm told they're shooting with Kim Kardashian in front of a green screen and none of the other HIMYM stars are involved. (Somewhere, Neil Patrick Harris is saying a prayer of gratitude.)

  We just chatted up Speidi, and not only does Spencer insist he knows "the Mother," he and Heidi also talked about her ridiculously fake "firing" scene on The Hills...

   

  So, HIMYM. What can you tell us?

  Spencer: We're really thrilled and excited...It's an honor to be up there with other guest cameos like Britney, who else? Mandy Moore, Heidi Klum, so we're honored to be in that clique.

  Heidi: I thought you were going to say Heidi Montag!

  Spencer: Of course, queen of the world!

  You're playing yourselves?

  Spencer: Yes, and I am the Mother! You heard correctly. Besides that pregnant man this year, I'm the other one in America.

  Heidi: I hope I'm not the Mother. I don't want to be a mother, not yet.

  I hear you guys are part of a scene that's all about going to the bathroom?

  Spencer: You have to tune in. I don't want to get in trouble giving away their storyline.

  Have to ask you, Heidi, that Hills scene last week where Brent Bolthouse fired you for having a drink on the job seemed pretty fake. When you saw it, how did you feel it turned out?

  Heidi: I haven't seen it; I don't know what it looked like.

  Spencer: So you're saying that she wasn't really fired from her job, is that what you're insinuating?

  Heidi: Is that what it was?

  A lot of viewers emailed in to us to say that it looked very set up and forced...

  Heidi: I mean, I'm a lightweight, so if I have one drink it affects me a little more than I think, so I never drink. I don't know...It was very shocking to me and a little bit out of control.

  Spencer: Maybe her surprise made it look...Her reaction wasn't as real?

  Heidi: The surprise was very hard.

  Anyone buying it? Anyone? Bueller?

• Superstar Seal on soul, Obama

  CANNES, France (AFP) – For Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Seal, the great thing about music is its power to affect and

  move people, especially in times of change such as these.

  "It's so strange that you can be listening to a song 1,000 times and then you hear it one time and it means something completely different," 45-year-old Seal told AFP during the world's biggest music industry trade fair, MIDEM, held in this Riviera town this week.

  "That is the power of music, it can affect you in such a profound way, and this is what happened to me," said Seal, whose recent album "Soul" has sold 1.5 million copies worldwide.

  Seal was referring to the impact he felt on re-listening to Sam Cooke's 1963 R&B single "A change is gonna come". The song came to embody the 60s US civil rights movement and last year inspired him to record his own version in light of the wind of change sweeping the globe as Barack Obama clinched the presidency.

  "I heard it many many times," he said, "But I heard it recently and it had a different effect on me because of the political situation in America."

  But for the British singer, born to a Nigerian father and Brazilian mother, change is more about the individual than civil rights.

  Soul singles such as Cooke's "don't necessarily have civil rights connotations for me," he said. "When I hear them it refers to the personal change inside the individual."

  Likewise, talking about Obama, Seal said "I think the biggest change that he's going to make is that he's going show the people that they are the change, that he can do nothing, he can only remind them of their power and their ability to make the change."

  "The change is not gonna come from the top down, it's gonna come from the bottom up. And I think the change is happening already."

  The fact the new US president had a white American mother and Kenyan father had extra meaning for him, said Seal, who is married to supermodel Heidi Klum.

  "It's how I was raised. I was raised in a country that taught me to believe in equality, to not see colour.

  "I feel proud because my children are mixed," he added. "It's an example to show them and say 'you're special, I always told you you were special'."

  But the singer said that in his view there was no such thing as "black music" or "white music". Some of the greatest soul singers were white, such as Bob Dylan, whose hit "Blowin' in the wind" was a civil rights song about black people.

  "It is music and it can go into everyone and be made by everyone," noted Seal.

• Britney Spears: Inside Her New York Birthday Party

  Los Angeles (E! Online) – Britney Spears can't stop turning 27—or at least celebrating it, anyway.

  Not o

  nly did she have a candle-covered cake at a London nightclub on Saturday, but just this morning she was serenaded by celebs like Hugh Jackman after her "Womanizer" performance on Good Morning America.

  And as I type this, the doors are open for her big circus-themed bash at New York's Tenjune nightclub. Already inside are Heidi Klum, Lance Bass and Lipstick Jungle's hot guy Rob Buckley. And the lady of honor just arrived in a little gray and black dress with "major cleavage," says a partygoer.

  Inside, according to a partygoer, the place is done up like a circus tent with a hot-dog stand and popcorn and cotton-candy machines emblazoned with the pop star's name. And outside, there's a huge screen projecting circus imagery.

  There's even a dude on stilts. (If you haven't heard by now, Brit-Brit's new album is called Circus.)
